How to Listen to Your Body and Eat Intuitively
A topic I’m very passionate about is intuitive eating, and much of my work with clients is helping them improve their relationship with food, rather than viewing it as the enemy.
My own struggles with weight loss led to crash diets and a long, bumpy road of overcoming an eating disorder. It wasn’t until I discovered intuitive eating that I finally recovered, so my knowledge and experience around this topic is dear to my heart.
We were all born with natural hunger and fullness queues, but as adults with busy, stressful lives, it’s easy to get out of tune with how to listen to our body. Overeating when you’re full, and depriving yourself when you’re hungry causes more problems and potentially leads to a cycle of bingeing and starving. Luckily, there are practical strategies for healing this pattern.
In this video, I give 3 tried and tested tips for getting in tune with your body, and having a happier relationship with food. Watch to learn about:
- How to follow your hunger and fullness cues – watch the video for using a scale of 1 – 10 as a framework to incorporate into your daily life, and depending on your goals of where on the scale to stop eating.
- How to enjoy your food – savor it and use all of your senses to be mindful of all aspects of your meal, which helps you slow down and be more satisfied.
- Why you should stop denying yourself – just eat it(!), but in good measure with a healthy balance.
This approach will help you to form new habits for being more in tune with your body’s needs.
